Tips for Helping Children
Get involved in helping children develop literacy skills.
Children struggle with reading for different reasons. Some may improve by simply replacing some TV time with extra reading time. Others may need help from a parent or tutor. About 15 percent of children have learning disabilities that require different teaching methods than those typically taught in school.

If your child needs more reading practice, please attend one of our free Cincinnati Reads training seminars, where you can learn how to help improve your child's reading proficiency. Call the Literacy Network at (513) 621-7323, or email hsmith@LNGC.org for information about this program.

Child receiving tips
If you think your child may have a learning disability, he/she may benefit from our Children’s Basic Reading Program, specially designed for children with learning disabilities. Call our hotline for information about this class or to receive referrals to educational testing sites or tutoring resources in our area. Our number is (513) 621-7323, or you can reach us by email at jsteimle@LNGC.org.
