Literacy Network of Greater Cincinnati

How Your Donation Will Be Used
When you give to the Literacy Network, your donation…
Creates new classes in our Adult and Children's Basic Reading Programs.
These specialized classes teach basic reading skills free of charge to people with profound reading difficulties.
Operates our Literacy Hotline
(513) 621-7323.
The Literacy Hotline is the one area number any adult in Greater Cincinnati's eight counties can call to get help with their educational needs. We help adult learners find one-on-one tutoring, GED preparatory classes, English for Speakers of Other Languages classes, family literacy—whatever they need—at a time and location convenient to them. Parents also receive appropriate referrals to fit their children’s needs.
Donating time
Recruits and trains volunteer tutors.
Cincinnati Reads trains hundreds of tutors each year to help kindergarten through fourth grade children reading below grade level in local elementary schools. Likewise, our Tutor Training Program trains tutors to help adult learners with their various educational needs.
Supports more than 60 adult literacy providers.
With more than 60 member agencies, the Literacy Network helps literacy programs by distributing more than 3,000 books each year, hosting bimonthly meetings for members, and referring trained tutors to adult education programs.
Builds awareness for literacy.
Through events like Fountain Square Reads, our quarterly newsletter, and meetings with local, state, and national political leaders, we make sure people know about the problem of low-level literacy and the initiatives we've taken to make Greater Cincinnati a more literate and prosperous community.
